Illumination

Standing in sunlight that reflects off the water,

illuminating even the blackest of spaces.

For a moment at least the warmth goes deep,

into those dark and well-hidden places.

The River shares secrets most reluctantly if ever,

as mine surrender to its forever embraces.

The light moves quickly, the warmth even faster,

my secrets are gone without any traces.

Over time and new tides different secrets emerge,

awaiting their release in all good graces.

The River hides mysteries behind its reflections,

all shared by each of many new faces.

Its beginning emerges and its ending submits,

to bigger waters it hurriedly races.

My secrets now taken by the waters so open

dreams blossom instead as if in vases.
